as a public relations student who is a PR practitioner in training I have learned that social media and public relations have a major role to play in reputation building especially when your a public figure or your featured in the current affairs. So my role here is to share some of the knowledge I have learned in this course on why social media and public relations are important. So take tips and make use of them.
why public relations and social media matters in the world today.
public relations and social media play a huge role in the world we live in today because everyone is technologically trained and people are influenced by the trends set on social media platforms hence Public relations is required to skill organisations and its internal and external publics on how to make social media work for them in a positive way that will build a brand and market it to the public in a convenient way that will save costs and increase sales.
The role public relations could play in the Nigerian saga of the kidnapped girls
Public relations is the management and building of relationships which are mutually beneficial to both parties involved so it can be between the organisation and its staff or the organisation and its target publics. Public relations practitioners could be assigned as liaison directors between the Nigerian country and the world by informing them what the country is planning to do to insure the safe return of the girls and also as a direct link to update the media on the current situation in Nigeria and what is the strategy. Social media is a fast method of communication with an almost immediate response, so in order for the news about current updates on the where about of the girls to reach the public social media is a platform for that but they need to be careful on how they use it so that they do not end up being accused of wrong things, they should rather post updates and respond to questions coming from the media and concerned citizens.
so do you see the importance of public relations and social media, it can be used to issue out information faster and also reaches the masses.it only took just a few days before the story went viral on social media.

so what can you do to gain back credibility as the country because is not in good books at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThe country should just be up front with the citizen honesty is the best policy when it comes to such issues so they have to host conferences to update the world on what they have done up to so far.
DeleteIndeed public relations and social media are playing an important role. If it were not for social media we would not have known many things. It is also cheaper and faster.
ReplyDeleteyes more information is sourced out through social media so organisations should take advantage of the cost saving and utilise it more.
Deleteboth PRP and media they doing the good job by informing the public about the issue. so what happened to them? what the Nigerian government doing about this issue, because even if we can talk and write about it all over social networks it won't help, the government must do something to find those girls.
ReplyDeletesocial media is a fast way to get news across so by posting on these platforms creates awareness so that other countries could join in and help find the girls. The government is under a lot of pressure at the moment because it is not faced with just one issue so it is sourcing out help from other countries to try trace Boko haram.
Deletethe goverment of nigeria need to do something but what have they done so far because our girls are not back yet? its been close too a month or more since they were kidnapped by boko haram. what happened to men being our protector and shield through abuse and domestic violence. Boko Haram has not sympathy for women and children. Social media has really made our lives easier, take for instance the malaysian plane that went missing, the MH317 plane was trending on all social platforms.
ReplyDeleteyour are right dear social media has done a great job in keeping the world up to date on what is going on around the world, so now the government of Nigeria should ask for help from resourceful countries who have power to assist in the search already America is lending a hand in support.
DeleteThe social media has done a great job with the #bringbackourgirls campaign. But it did not serve its purpose which was to bring the girls back home
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you that we should not only take advantage of social media but use it strategically to increase profit or revenue
